About me and my therapy practice

Thank you for taking a moment to read my profile.

I offer a person centred therapeutic counselling service; this means that you will be provided a safe space to talk about whatever is concerning you, if this is what you need, I can provide this for you. 

I will also work to create a comfortable space for you to share what is on your mind; I will remain non-judgmental, and empathetic to support you with anything you share. 

I have 30+ years experience supporting people with health issues in a 'wide variety of specialist mental and genersl health areas'. 

These are some of the area I have specialist experience counselling in:

□Physical health issues;

□Acute illness,

□Chronic health conditions;

□Life limiting illness

I also specialise presently in supporting people with;

■ anxiety

■ low mood

■ loss

■ childhood trauma

In addition I have specialist knowledge and counselling skills to provide  counselling support to you if you are a carer who is e.g. supporting a family member with:

●dementia,

●brain injury,

●learning disability

●addiction etc.

Practice description

NORMAL COUNSELLING SESSION TIME...

If you book with me, your counselling session will normally be 45 minutes long on a date and time that suit you and me, for whatever numbers of weeks you need ...

SPECIALIST IN VIVO SESSION : Integrative CBT Therapy 

If we agree together that you may benefit from cognitive behaviour 'in vivo'  therapy; we may agree to work outside the normal 45 minute time-frame e.g. this could be safely and professionally supporting you to face a fear or phobia,  etc..

If I think you would benefit from 'in vivo' sessions, I will discuss and agreed all parts of session with you in advance, including any expected change in session time or cost; as this type of therapy may result in additional charges, as the session can be delivered 'off-site' or for a beyond the '45 minute' session time.

My first session

On a 1st session we will both be spending time to get to know each other and I will be asking you to complete a : 👍🏼 therapy health assessment form; this is to help me  understand your presenting issue(s) better, so I can provide my best counselling skills to help you. 

On the day we meet we will chat and set up a counselling agreement for us both.

A counselling agreement 📃 will hold information such as e.g. agreed date, time for counselling etc.

Once completed in session 1 - we we will both sign the counselling agreement 🖊📃🖊 and we can amend / add to it as your sessions progress, as useful for you. 

I will also explain to you about my business confidentiality policy. This is an important document professional counselling services use.

 Within all professional counselling services there are a few limitations with  confidentiality i.e. if I deem you or others around you are at risk of harm. 

You can ask me more about this at your free consultation should you book it; i will always explain this in detail on session 1 if you book with my clinic.
