About me and my therapy practice

I'm a psychotherapist working from a private room in my home in Hackney (E9) and online.

I can offer a safe and non-judgmental space in which we can work together to explore your worries and what you’d like to change.

Therapy provides an opportunity to work through difficult issues which get in the way of being able to live fully. Understanding why you feel stuck and entrenched patterns that might be contributing to ongoing distress, can enable profound transformation. I believe that this process needs safety, warmth, and respect, as well as challenging where helpful and thinking with you about how to make changes in your life.

I have many years of experience working with people in need of help and support, with particular expertise in eating disorders and a PhD in psychology. I aim to work with you through any difficult issues that might be holding you back, whether it’s anxiety, depression, struggles with eating, addiction, sexual or relationship problems, PTSD, issues with self-esteem etc. In my work as a psychotherapist, I work with the past, as well as what’s happening in the present, and any hopes for the future to help people make sense of their lives so that they feel relieved of suffering and able to move forward in a positive way.

I have particular experience of treating clients with relationship issues, eating disorders, trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression and attachment issues.

I work relationally and attachment-based. The evidence is overwhelming that the key to successful therapy is the therapeutic relationship, hence I believe creating a positive and collaborative therapeutic relationship is essential.

Practice description

I will take the time to understand your concerns so that you feel understood, valued and safe.

I work from a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic approach, which means understanding how our early lives have formed strategies that might be contributing to unhelpful patterns in adulthood. I am MBACP registered and abide to UKCP code of practice.

My practice is in Hackney (easy to reach from Homerton or Hackney Central station) though I also work online. Please see my website for more information

My first session

At the initial appointment which lasts for 1 hour you can begin to tell me about yourself and what it is that is worrying you. We will explore your current issues, your expectations of treatment and a more general conversation about your life history. This session enables you to talk about what you're looking for, as well as see who I am and how I work, ask any questions you may have about the process of psychotherapy.

We will then arrange ongoing sessions that last 50 minutes, usually at the same time and day. I work on both a short-term and long-term basis and typically this is open-ended.
