About me and my therapy practice
Hi! My name is Fabian (He/Him) and I am a predominantly humanistic counsellor based in Manchester practicing here and across Lancashire.
I believe that therapy can offer a mirror for you to begin to examine yourself and your emotions, often for the first time. Sometimes, we don't know what it is that makes us feel the way we do, and it's with this mirror we can begin to start to explore what lies underneath our feelings. Ultimately, this is a collaborative process between client and therapist, working together to deepen your understanding and progress therapuetic change.
I am able to tailor my approach towards what you feel are your needs to be able to address the issues you are facing. As a result, while my early training is in the Person-Centred Approach - I have a keen interest in Existential Therapy as well as adopting CBT & DBT techniques should you feel you need more hands on techniques for coping, managing your emotions or just to start getting by. The best approach to practice changes throughout your therapuetic journey and I can offer a flexibility that can best cater for your needs while we work together.
Practice description
I work with Adult (18+) Male clients with a wide variety of issues from Anxiety and Depression to Abuse and Loss. However, in particular, I am passionate about working with the following issues in which I have gained Counselling experience:
Addiction and Recovery - I have worked as a Counsellor for Red Rose Recovery in Lancaster (and wider Lancashire). I have worked with clients at different stages in their recovery journey; from still using, to the 'just for today' period, and finally towards establishing meaning without (or with an altered relationship with) drugs and alcohol. Counselling can be a useful tool in your recovery journey, no matter whereabouts you are with it at the moment.
LGBTQIA+ - I have worked as a Counsellor for Body Positive Cheshire & North Wales, where I have worked with clients who are transitioning gender as well as those who are beginning to explore their sexual identity or are experiencing difficulties in life related to their LGBTQIA+ identity. I am a LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapist and offer a non-judgemental and safe space for you to explore without fear or doubt.
Men's Issues - I recognise that for many Men, coming to therapy can be particularly daunting. For many of us, since childhood, we have been encouraged to downplay and minimise our emotions. As a result, it can be difficult to express how we are really feeling or even to just understand it ourselves. Much of my practice can work towards helping develop that emotional literacy to begin to identify, unpack and explore many of these difficult and intangible emotions.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute phone call/Zoom for us to get to know each other a bit and figure out whether I am the right therapist for you. In this call, we will briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, how best we can work together, and how sessions ould work going forward.
Naturally, these sessions are not binding, and there is no pressure to commit to working with me after the call.
What I can help with
Abuse, Addictions, Anxiety, Depression, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Men's issues, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Substance Dependency
