About me and my therapy practice
Life gives us a lot of opportunities to learn to cope with our problems. But it doesn’t give us a lot of opportunities to genuinely try and heal from them. I can’t claim to have the answer to every problem, but I want to take an approach to mental health – your mental health – which thinks about healing, growth and change.
While I have years of experience working with a broad range of diagnoses, I think these labels can take away from an actual person and their actual problems. I want to learn about you as a person and work out what a solution looks like for you. That means the solutions we work on together won’t be one-size-fits-all. It may take time and be hard work. But that’s because it’s worth doing.
My goal is to offer you a supportive space – one you can use to express and process your feelings without judgement. I will be genuinely curious about you, and will listen to what’s going on for you.
It’s important to me that you bring your whole self to the therapy room. That’s because I believe that every part of you, even the tricky parts, are deserving of care and healing. It’s only through facing these parts of ourselves that we can gain a deeper understanding, and work out what meaningful change might look like.
I value building meaningful relationships with people based on trust and empathy. It can be really hard to open up, so it’s important to me that I make it easy for you. However, I will not shy away from challenging you where I know it can help you grow and change for the better.
As well as being a qualified person-centred counsellor/psychotherapist, I also have degrees in psychology & social work. I am committed to continuing my own learning so I can be my best self for my clients. My background includes working with clients aged 18 and over, and with people who have struggled with a range of experiences (including mental ill health, addiction, grief, loss, trauma and abuse).
