About me and my therapy practice

I would like to offer you a warm, safe space where we can work together to address the issues you may bring to counselling. It can be a daunting first step to seek help and my wish is to offer an open, non-judgemental and empathic way of working where a trusting therapeutic relationship can be developed between us.

I work from a person-centred theory base and this means that I don't see myself as the expert in your problems. I won't tell you what to do or give advice and we will work collaboratively on any problems or issues that you initially bring or arise during our work together.

We can work together on a short or long term basis depending upon your needs. The time can be used to explore what brings you to counselling in a respectful, open and genuine way. This will allow us to explore and understand your issues and identify the potential for change and personal development that you may be seeking.

Practice description

I provide confidential, professional counselling that is committed to your needs as the client.

This means that I work in an ethical, professional manner and am guided by the frameworks of my professional body, the BACP, to enable me to provide a safe, confidential and respectful service.

I am committed to developing my knowledge and competence and engage in further learning and development to develop my role as a counsellor on a regular basis.

My first session

Initial contact is via the phone. We can have a brief chat to see what brings you to counselling and if I can offer you the help you need. If I can't, I will help you to find a more appropriate source of help.

We can then make an appointment for a first session where we can explore how we can work together and assess your current situation. If we are both in agreement we can then make a decision to go ahead with regular appointments at a mutually convenient time.
