About me and my therapy practice
I’m Talia (she/her), and I am a BACP registered, person-centred counsellor with a degree level diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling. I am committed to person-centred practice where I aim to provide clients with a supportive, non-judgemental, and collaborative space. I aim to offer empathy, and also challenge, whilst clients explore whatever feels relevant to them. I believe that in working together, I can help clients find a place of greater awareness and more acceptance, explore the challenges they are facing, and take the first steps towards understanding and solving them.
I am committed to practicing in a theory-based and anti-discriminatory way and to the continued reflection, reflexivity, and learning which this aim requires. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirmative.
As well as my private practice, I have clinical experience offering counselling in two London-based counselling services. I also work in the NHS as the counsellor for a GP surgery and as the counsellor for a hospital-based prenatal team. I have worked with clients facing a range of issues including: anxiety; depression; relationship issues; disordered eating; addiction; OCD tendencies; loneliness; feeling hopeless about life and/or the future; feeling lost; feeling out of control; life changes/transitions; strong feelings linked to a specific incident/incidences; difficulties setting and holding boundaries; living with chronic illness, disability, or pain; HIV; FGM; claiming asylum, and adoption.
Having obtained my diploma, I continue studying towards an MSc in person-centred psychotherapy from Middlesex University in collaboration with Metanoia Institute and accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). The Metanoia Institute is one of the leading training institutions in the UK in counselling and psychotherapy.
I was inspired to train to become a psychotherapist by my own experience of being a client.

Availability: I have varying availability during the week. Please contact me if you would like to discuss further.
Location: I am currently only offering therapy online or on the phone.
Rates: I work with a sliding rates scale for individual therapy sessions from £60-£90 per weekly, 50-minute session. If the rates in this scale are out of your budget, please do reach out to me regardless. I try to contribute to therapy being accessible to as many people as possible, so hold some concessionary spaces.
My first session
Free 30-minute chat: I offer a free 30-minute chat to prospective clients. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to set one up. In this conversation, we will discuss with why you might be interested in counselling, what I offer, and I can answer any questions you have. I may ask some questions about what has brought you to counselling and your expectations for counselling. Research shows that the relationship between the client and therapist is a key part of counselling being effective, so an initial chat will give both me and you an opportunity to decide whether we think we are a good fit. If we decide to work together, we can take things from there.
