About me and my therapy practice
Therapy offers you a path towards positive change and deeper understanding. I offer a collaborative approach where we can explore the ways you can understand the part you play in your situation and how you can regain control of your life and develop strategies to creatively transform your life for the better.
I offer a wide range of services, both individual and couples counselling (in-person or online). Mine is a Gestalt therapeutic approach which means we will work in the here and now and focus on how the past may be impacting you presently. I also offer life coaching and specialise in helping people overcome public performance anxiety.
People tell me I have a warm, kind and calming presence and that my compassion for others comes across as a big part of who I am. I’ll accept you as you are and give you the time and space to talk about your situation. I’m fascinated to get a sense of what it’s like to see the world as you do, without judgment but offering empathy and understanding.
Practice description
I am a fully qualified Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and certified Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming. I have also had experience in placement within the NHS as an Honorary Assistant Psychologist within the Priory group of hospitals. In my private work with clients, I have experience dealing with a wide range of issues and offer counselling and psychotherapy to individuals both in-person and online.
I commonly work with clients who suffer from anxiety or depression, but I have experience working with clients suffering from trauma, OCD, panic attacks, phobias, low moods and feelings of loneliness and low self-esteem. I also work with people who are grieving a loss, who need help with a work or personal problem, who are looking for career growth or personal development, or who are currently experiencing relationship difficulties or family conflicts. Whatever your background, age, gender, orientation or experience, I'd be glad to work with you.
My aims for therapy.
To provide the opportunity to develop a therapeutic relationship, in which together we can:
Help you to feel differently.
Help you gain relief from the pain and distress of your situation, so you don’t feel trapped by your emotional reactions.
Increase your self-esteem and confidence.
Work towards a greater understanding of your Self, the part you play in your situation and what your problems are.
Help you regain your ability to cope with life, and to move forward with confidence.
Improve your relationships with others.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute initial consultation where we can discuss what has prompted you to contact me. I will invite you to tell me a little bit about the issue as you see it and any past or current background information you are comfortable sharing with me. I will talk you through my thoughts for a treatment plan and check how this feels with you.
If we decide to meet face to face I will send you my client intake form to look at prior to our session. In this form I will request information about your GP, and some personal contact details as well as asking you to give a little historical context to your situation. I will only expect you to give as much detail as you are comfortable sharing with me. Over the first 2 to 3 sessions we can decide together how we might work together and what timescale would be most suitable.
