About me and my therapy practice
Hello! I am in integrative counsellor, and I work holistically with clients to tailor my approach to their individual needs. As an integrative counsellor I also encourage an incorporation of body and mind into our process, as well as working creatively together to help clients to achieve their goals.
If you feel left out, alone or struggle to feel understood at all, I provide a vibrant and warm space to explore and feel connected.
You might come to me if:
- You feel guilt or shame over certain behaviours that you engage in.
- You would like to navigate your experiences from childhood and understand how they impact you now, including how you relate to those around you and impact your sense of identity.
- You are donor conceived and you want to explore this experience.
- You struggle with your sense of identity and self worth.
- You would like to explore disordered eating behaviours that you may have.
- You have difficulty regulation your emotions and moods.
- You want an approach that encompasses mind and body.
Qualifications and notable experience:
- I am listed on the trusted therapist directory for Donor Conceived UK (DCUK) which is a supportive network for those impacted by donor conception.
- MA degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling.
- NCFED CPD underway in Excellence in Practitioner Skills for Eating Disorders.
- CPD completed on 'Working with Suicidality in the Helping Professions' with The Training Compendium
Practice description
My approach to therapy is creative, fresh and dynamic. I work collaboratively with clients and tailor my approach to meet their specific needs and to meet who they are as a person. My core integration is humanistic and relational psychodynamic. I also draw on attachment theory to help me to understand where you have been and how you relate to those around you (including yourself!), whilst still acknowledging that you are the expert on you and giving you the space to explore in the way you want to.
I also integrate the body and mind in my exploration as I believe this is crucial to our holistic understanding of ourselves, and I keep updating my practice as new understanding evolves.
I am down-to-earth and I provide an empathetic, warm, comforting and non-judgemental space to process and hold your lived experiences and to provide a space to be fully yourself, to share your secrets safely, to challenge you along the way, and to help you on your lifelong journey to self-understanding and a life worth living.
My first session
It can be daunting going into the first session! In the first session I will spend time getting to know you, learning what your goals are, what your expectations for therapy are, what you are looking to achieve and outlining how often we will meet and for how many weeks (unless it is open-ended, but we will usually have a revision session after 6 weeks). In the session we will also discuss any fears you have or reservations in coming to therapy as well as exploring my personal therapeutic approach. This session will also include an initial assessment.
