About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified BACP registered person-centred therapist offering therapy both online and in person in West and Central London.

My work is underpinned by the values set out by Carl Rogers in his Theory of Person-Centred Therapy; Rogers was the first to articulate the idea that a therapist’s only job is to understand as accurately as possible what it is like to walk in the client’s footsteps, however frightening or wearying that path may be. Only when a client can feel and experience that total understanding from a therapist and feel completely safe can they allow themselves the freedom to think or say what might have been unthinkable or unsayable and, in that loosening, a new way forward can be found.

I therefore commit to offering you the understanding Rogers described to the best of my ability. This means I will not ‘diagnose’ what is ‘wrong’ with you or use ‘techniques’ on you; instead we will explore together, as equals, what you might be facing and work towards finding a way forward that feels comfortable for you.

Practice description

I am often asked what areas I specialise in. My answer is that I am hoping to help you manage your response to whatever you might be experiencing. I have helped clients manage anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, chronic illness, issues around food, ageing and menopause, relationship difficulties, professional dilemmas, environmental anxiety and parenting worries amongst many other concerns. I also welcome clients who are interested in exploring themselves in greater depth from a place of curiosity rather than crisis. I am deeply committed to engaging respectfully with you on all issues of identity, race, gender, sexuality, age, disability and neurodiversity and to being as accessible and present as possible.

My first session

I offer an initiaI half hour consultation on-line for free.  I welcome the chance to talk through with you what you might want or expect from therapy and to explain how I work.  This can be a great opportunity to help you decide whether you feel I am on the same wavelength as you.
