About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Adenike Rebecca Teichert, MBACP, MNCPS (Accred.), an integrative therapeutic counsellor and trauma-informed practitioner based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. As a neurodivergent individual, I bring professional expertise and lived experience to my practice, focusing on supporting neurodivergent clients and their families.
Background and Training
Since 2017, I have been deeply committed to the helping profession, gaining extensive training across therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Transactional Analysis (TA). Recently, I completed the Approaches to Arts-Based Therapies course, which has enriched my practice with techniques such as Jungian Sand Play, allowing me to integrate expressive, symbolic tools that support exploration and healing for clients of all ages. Each approach is embedded within a trauma-informed framework to provide a holistic and supportive environment in in-person and online sessions.
Experience
My practice is inclusive and diverse, working with adults, young people, and families, with particular sensitivity to neurodivergent individuals. With lived experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and non-visible disabilities, I bring a unique understanding to issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic illness, and relationship dynamics. Alongside my private practice, I volunteer with charities to support clients facing mental health challenges, helping to build resilience and well-being in challenging circumstances.
Conclusion
I am devoted to ongoing professional development, guided by a dedication to compassionate, ethical, and practical support. Whether navigating a difficult period or seeking to enhance your well-being, I am here to support your journey towards healing and personal growth.
Practice description
Trauma-Informed PracticeMy approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, providing a compassionate and structured environment for clients affected by trauma. Training in trauma-informed models enables me to recognise, validate, and respond effectively to trauma-related issues, fostering a safe and empowering therapeutic space. I prioritise self-care, maintain an awareness of vicarious trauma, and stay up to date with trauma research, particularly regarding the unique challenges faced by minority groups.
