Availability
I'm currently offering face to face sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays with online sessions available in the early evening. I'm also available online on Tuesday daytime and evening. I offer some flexibility with on line sessions in the early evenings.
Face to face sessions are conducted at a pleasant, calm and accessible space with good parking, reception and toilet facilities. We can even offer a cup of coffee or tea and a comfortable place to wait.
Online sessions are conducted from my office at home and can be timed to fit around your family and work commitments.
I also offer concessionary rates for people on a low income and for students studying on 'BACP' accredited courses.
I have places available in my practice at the moment so please feel free to get in touch by email or text . We can then have a short telephone chat where we can decide if and how you would like to go forward with sessions.
About me and my therapy practice
Hi I'm Liz, a qualified, BACP registered counsellor. ( MSc Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. Birmingham Newman University).
I have a private practice offering long and short term counselling for people experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, stress, feelings of low self worth, relationship difficulties and family issues.
Also those experiencing health concerns, chronic health conditions, bereavement and other life changing circumstances.
Drawing on my years of study and experience in counselling and my professional background in both school and community education, I have cultivated a capacity to listen deeply and compassionately which, combined with perception and empathy, helps my clients to access and work with what most troubles them to achieve healing and positive change.
I have been trained in a range of therapeutic approaches which I combine and tailor to meet the needs of each individual. I draw on gestalt, relational, analytic and developmental approaches to examine issues, find patterns of thinking and behaving where people may be stuck and explore possible links to to past experiences in an effort to enable clients to gain relief , make change and regain the ability to move forward.
Practice description
At the heart of my practice is my belief that each person is worthy of respect and compassion. Therefore, I provide an emotionally safe space in which we can work with mutual commitment and collaboration in order to make sense of what challenges you are experiencing and explore new ways of coping , or making desired changes. Also in exploring and understanding yourself, others and your relationships in all arenas of your life.
Therapy provides an opportunity to reflect upon and work with what is troubling you, away from the distractions and commitments of daily life.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
My first session
For a first session, I offer a reduced rate ( Currently £40). During this session there will be a short assessment which can help us both to gain a clear impression of your life and issues. Also at this time you can find out about how I work and decide whether this suits your needs and also whether we can work well together as people. You may want to ask me questions which I'll do my best to answer.
At the end of the session you can decide whether to continue into counselling with me. If you do, then we can decide on an initial time frame for the counselling sessions which we will then regularly review. You may also wish to outline some desired aims or goals for your therapy, although you may feel more comfortable or more clear about that once the initial sessions are in progress.
If you choose not to continue, that is your free choice and sometimes part of the process.
