Hello, I’m Tugba, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with 13 years of experience in working with relational issues, existential problems and trauma. My clients have been diverse in age and background, and our therapeutic journey continued with confronting a wide range of issues, including trauma, loss, anxiety, anger, shame, eating disorders, body image concerns, and relationship difficulties.
About me and my therapy practice
In my practice, I draw on psychoanalytic principles, focusing on the unconscious processes that shape our behaviors, thoughts, and relationships. I approach therapy with an understanding that much of our emotional suffering is rooted in early life experiences and unresolved conflicts. Our work together will involve creating a reflective space where unconscious patterns, defenses, and internal struggles can emerge, be explored, and gradually understood. This process allows you to gain deeper insight into the ways in which your past has influenced your present, helping you to break free from repetitive cycles and make lasting changes.
Practice description
I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship itself as a space for healing, where unconscious dynamics between us can offer valuable insight into your inner world. Through careful listening and interpretation, I will help you uncover hidden aspects of yourself that may be contributing to your current distress, facilitating a process of self-discovery and growth.
My first session
In our sessions, we will explore your thoughts, feelings, dreams, memories, and relationships—paying close attention to how these elements intertwine and reveal deeper, often unconscious, truths about your inner life through free association. We will also examine how your past relationships, particularly early attachments, continue to shape your present experiences and emotional responses. Psychoanalytic therapy is a gradual process, and I will support you in making sense of your experiences in a way that fosters insight, emotional transformation, and a more authentic connection with yourself and others.
In the end of the first session, we will decide if we are both comfortable to proceed. We will then meet weekly and our sessions will last 45 minutes. Regularity and continuity are especially important to therapeutic process.
