About me and my therapy practice

It can be really hard seeking therapy, and offering a safe and confidential environment where you feel truly heard and validated without judgemental is my principle aim.  Within this environment you will be met with warmth and compassion as we look together at whatever it is that is concerning you, help you to discover your own unique strengths, explore new perspectives and find a way forward.

I have worked with individuals with chronic health conditions, sexual violence survivors and those going through significant changes in their lives such as adjusting to their children leaving home and the challenges that come with getting older.

I have experience with young people 18+ preparing for and adjusting to leaving home, whether that be for higher education/university and living far away or other life challenges such as concerns about academic pressure, money and relationship issues.

I also work with anxiety, stress, low mood, depression, loss, parent-child relationships, employment issues, self-esteem issues, refugees, asylum seekers and boarding school syndrome.

Training and Qualifications:

L4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative) - Abingdon and Witney College

PG Certificate Counselling Skills (CBT route) - University of South Wales

L2 Certificate Counselling Skills - Newbury College

MSc Health and Exercise Science - Bristol University

BSc Psychology 2.1 (hons) - Bristol University

Continuous Professional Development - currently studying for L2 Understanding Autism.

Practice description

I am an Integrative Counsellor primarily using the Person-Centred Approach (PCA) yet drawing from other therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) if appropriate.

I am happy to work short or long term, online or in person. Some clients like just a few sessions to be heard and receive validation for what they are going through without judgement and to gain a new perspective. Others value and benefit from longer term support which allows them to work at a deeper level and/or to address unhelpful patterns that may be contributing to the issue in order to find a new way forward.

Sessions are client led and/or collaborative depending on what's helpful. I don't tell client what to do but I may at times challenge them or share external information such as websites, articles and tools that they may find useful.

*At the heart of the PCA is the belief that the client has an inherent capacity for growth and achieving their full potential given the right environment; one of acceptance, honesty and empathy. In CBT, we would look together at the interplay of thoughts, emotions and behaviours to help you identify and break unhelpful patterns, finding and trying alternative ways forward.

My first session

After receiving an enquiry I will phone, text or email you to introduce myself and to learn a little about how I may support you and you can ask me any questions. During this initial chat we can decide if we are a good 'fit.' There is no charge for this and the conversation usually lasts around 15 minutes.

Should we go ahead, I will send you a document outlining the terms for our work together, payment instructions and directions or the zoom link.

In the first of the booked sessions I will collect a some more information including about your issue and if you have any goals for the therapy, your general health and wellbeing. Thereafter the sessions will be bespoke to your needs. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. I ask for 24 hours cancellation notice.
