About me and my therapy practice
As a relational humanistic counsellor, I believe that the relationship between you and I is integral to our work together. My approach is empathic and explorative, looking back at your past to understand who you are and why you are where you are. In this awareness, my hope is that you will become free to make the changes that you want to in life and to accept all parts of yourself.
The work is yours and my job is to sit alongside you, using my skills, knowledge and experience to support you. It is my belief that the right therapist can provide invaluable assistance to your wellbeing, and guide you to use the resources you have towards a more satisfying way of being.
Clients come to me with anxiety and depression, relational issues, addiction, identity issues, grief, chronic illness, abuse and all aspects of trauma. People also come to me who are looking for a greater understanding of their self and place in life.
I am currently undertaking training in Systemic Constellations with an emphasis on people of colour, and I welcome people from all cultures. I have experience supporting people from the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as those who are neurodiverse. I also enjoy working with adult adoptees and clients who have experienced difficulties in childhood.
Practice description
I am a qualified counsellor, who has been practicing since 2020, seeing individual clients in Swansea, Carmarthen and Llandeilo in person and online nationally.
My work tends to be longer term in nature, though some of my clients feel they need only eight sessions to reap the benefits they require from 1-2-1 therapy.
As an integrative therapist I draw upon a variety of theoretical basis and use them to formulate a bespoke approach to fit the needs of the client. These include attachment and development, transactional analysis, Gestalt, and elements of CBT (though I am not a CBT therapist). All my work is under-pinned by a non-judgemental, empathic relationship and is rooted in an understanding of neuroscience and the felt experience.
I am currently working toward full accreditation as a UKCP Psychotherapist.
My first session
The first session is really an introduction, where you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you might have, and for us to get to know each other a little. Your story is important to me, and I will be keen to find out about you and what has brought you to therapy. These sessions can take place online or in person in Carmarthen, Swansea or Llandeilo.
I offer a 20 minute initial telephone chat for clients who would prefer this. Our first session is chargeable at the full fee of £45 for a 50 minute session. If we decide that I am the right therapist for you, I ask for a commitment of a minimum of seven further sessions.

Whilst I live in rural Wales and have connections with the community, I am sorry to say that I do not speak Welsh.
