About me and my therapy practice
I am a Person-Centred therapist and I believe that each person is the expert in their own experience and possesses the resources to help and heal themselves. I provide a boundaried, confidential, non-judgemental, empathic space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, learn new things about yourself and understand what you need, what your values are and what holds meaning for you.
I qualified as a counsellor in 2006 (at the University of Warwick) and subsequently completed an MSc in Philosophy and the Ethics of Mental Health. I also have a particular interest in belief and delusion formation and have a PhD (in philosophy) from the University of Birmingham.
Most individual sessions last an hour and cost £50. Couple/relationship counselling last for an hour and a half and cost £70. Rates and durations are negotiable. I also provide Open Dialogue network meetings for families and groups. See my website for more information
My first session
I am happy to provide a first contact session (usually about half an hour) where we can discuss what counselling is and how I might help. This first session in free and no counselling will take place.
If you prefer to start counselling straight away then we can meet for a full hour - please read the information on my website (www.shedcounselling.co.uk) to find our more.
For couples/relationship counselling, Open Dialogue network meetings and other groups please get in touch to discuss how we can work together.
I am, of course, always happy to answer questions about counselling any time during the process.
