About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes, life gets hard. You’re doing your best, but it still feels like a struggle. Meeting with a qualified therapist can provide insight and support, and help you find your way forwards.
Whatever your reasons for seeking therapy, I aim to provide a warm, non-judgemental space for you to confidentially explore whatever you wish to.
I work in a relational, integrative way. This means that the therapeutic relationship between my clients and myself is at the heart of my work, and that I integrate a range of different therapeutic theories to suit both who I am as a person, and who you are as my client. Although giving a name to what you are experiencing is sometimes helpful, I aim to treat you as the multi-faceted, fascinating human being that you are rather than as a single diagnosis. My goal is to help you find the way forward that works best for you.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and the Metanoia Institute, and I work to their ethical codes.
I work with adults aged 18 and over.
Working with the right person is key. If you are interested in working with me, please check out my website for more information. I offer a free, no-obligation phone call to see if we are right for one another.
Practice description
Essentially, I am a person just like you, who has experienced the ups and downs of life. My own experiences led me to the transformative work of therapy, and now I look forward to introducing you to that world.
I am middle-aged, with a wide range of life experiences. I started my professional life as a scientist, researching the process of disease transmission. I remain curious about the causes of dis-ease, especially how this can be passed through familial generations and how the culture in which we grow up affects us. My scientific background means that I understand the neurological processes that can affect mental wellbeing, as well as how the body and brain are intricately linked. I have also worked in business for many years, so I understand the stressful nature of the working world. As a yoga teacher and practitioner, I bring my knowledge of how breathwork, mindfulness, and somatic forms of therapy can be used to calm the nervous system to my therapeutic practice. I also have an appreciation for symbolism and story, and how these can help us make meaning of our lives.
