About me and my therapy practice
I am Tony Simpson (FdA, MBACP). I was born and raised in Newcastle. I completed my training in Durham and have amassed hundreds of hours of client work. Your therapy will be centred around you and proceed at your pace. You have the freedom to discuss only what you're comfortable with, guiding the topics we explore.
Feel free to bring your broad concerns or specific issues, and I will ensure a non-judgmental, safe, and confidential space for our conversations. There are no pretend quick fixes here, just genuine therapy from a real therapist.
I offer sessions face-to-face, over video calls, or on the telephone, adapting to whatever method suits you best.
Practice description
There are many and varied approaches to counselling, and the work we do will be led by you and your individual concerns. This means I'm able to adapt my methods to suit your specific needs and preferences. Whether you're seeking solutions for an immediate problem or wish to explore deeper patterns in your life, we'll collaborate to find a path that feels right for you.
Your comfort, goals, and personal growth are the guiding principles of our work together. We can start by discussing what you hope to gain from counselling, and we can explore the best options to support you.
You won't be pushed, led, or cajoled. You will never be under pressure to discuss anything you don't want to. First and foremost, a counsellor's job is to listen with empathy and understanding.
You set the pace and decide what you feel ready to share. Whether you're seeking a sounding board for difficult emotions, a partner in problem-solving, or simply a non-judgmental presence, I am here to support you in the way that feels most comfortable and beneficial.
If you don’t mind a metaphor, I sometimes describe my job like this to clients:
Maybe your head has become like that junk drawer in the kitchen, all muddled and messy - you know there are useful things in there, but it’s become too entangled and difficult to access them. We can, together, pull it all out, set it on the table, and begin to work through it so the things in there become accessible and useful again. The key thing is that we do this together; you are the expert on what’s in there, and I’m here to help you make sense of it.
My first session
Please feel free to get in touch via email, text, WhatsApp or phone.
In your first session, we may cover your major worries or your questions about counselling. We may establish what you are looking for, and what results you expect from therapy.
Everything is led by you, you will never be rushed into talking about anything you’re not ready to discuss.
