About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, offering face to face and online/telephone therapy.
Taking the first step to find a therapist can be daunting, especially when life is particularly hard.
I feel passionately about creating a counselling space which is confidential, supportive and incredibly personal. A space for you to explore your issues and emotions and to make the positive changes you're striving for.
I work with adult clients in a Person Centred way, which means I create an empathic, non-judgemental space for you to explore whatever issues you want to focus on.
I work with clients face-face out of a private room on the outskirts of Sevenoaks (Kent) in a beautiful rural setting with lots of on-site free parking. If you would rather work online or over the telephone, I offer both of those options to clients across the UK.
I have experience of working with trauma, addiction, relationship issues, loneliness, grief, menopause anxiety, stress, financial worries and with those clients in need of support around self-esteem and workplace issues.
As a registered member of the BACP (www.bacp.co.uk) I'm committed to working with clients ethically and safely. I'm fully insured and hold a current DBS certificate.
Some clients prefer to work to a block of six-eight weekly sessions, others like to work in a more open-ended way. In each case I ensure I deliver a safe ending to the therapeutic work.
Practice description
Initial Chat
I offer a free of charge 20 minute phone consultation to every new client. This is your chance to suss me out and to explore if the way in which I work, suits the way in which you want to approach your personal therapy sessions.
The Sessions
Each therapeutic session lasts for 50 minutes and costs £60. Each client is different, but often we agree to work together for six to eight sessions. Over those six-eight weeks we review and, if appropriate, consider the opportunity to move into open-ended therapeutic work.
Next Steps
Some clients want to move into open-ended therapeutic work. For others six-eight sessions feels enough for the moment. In some cases we agree a more specialist form of therapy would be useful and we work together to look at all the options. Everyone is unique and I'm there to support each client's individual needs.
My first session
After the initial 20-minute chat, should you choose to work with me, we will book in our first 50 minute session together. This can be face to face, online or over the phone. Whichever works best for you.
In the first session we will work together to identify what your hopes are from the counselling, and talk through any previous experience of counselling and how that was for you. We will also agree how we'll work together going forward, agreeing an initial number of sessions and the way in which confidentiality and safety in the space will be maintained.
We will explore your presenting issue or issues and begin our work together.
