About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Ashling. I am a psychotherapist registered with the BACP.
I am warm, down-to-earth and passionate about helping people overcome the challenges they have experienced or are experiencing in their lives.
I have worked with people dealing with anxiety, depression, disordered eating, relationship/family issues, workplace issues, grief and low self-esteem. However, I am interested in working with the person rather than the 'issue' and have the skills to work with a variety of different people from different backgrounds.
Practice description
I work integratively, which basically means that I use different approaches and techniques to support you as a unique individual.
We may work on exploring and integrating all the different aspects of you, to build awareness, compassion and acceptance and develop a stronger sense of self.
It's important that we build a positive therapeutic relationship, as this is often the most impactful element of therapy and what creates a lasting change.
The sessions will be focused on you, but I also bring myself to the session, so that the experience is real and genuine and collaborative. I can offer you empathy, honesty & understanding, with warmth and integrity.
We can work together on a short or longer term basis, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
My first session
What to expect working with me? Firstly, via email, we will arrange an initial 20-minute consultation. At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions about the way I work and I will find out a little about you and how therapy can help you at this time. Then we can arrange a regular time and day for our sessions going forward.
Starting therapy can bring up mixed feelings and emotions. My aim is to make your first session feel as comfortable as possible, where the session will go at your pace. The first session is a great opportunity to talk about what's brought you to therapy, whilst also getting comfortable talking to a new therapist.
