About me and my therapy practice
Affirming and supportive integrative therapeutic counselling, somatic therapy and nature therapy in Birmingham.
Thanks for being here. I know that starting therapy for the first time, or taking the next step along the path, takes courage. What ever your reasons for seeking therapy, I’m here to support you in a compassionate, affirming and safe way.
I'm an integrative therapeutic counsellor and I work in a collaborative, non-judgemental, affirming and trauma informed way. This means taking a holistic approach where we explore your unique experience, needs and goals, using a variety of tools and approaches that work with the mind, body and nervous system. As well as working in a therapy space and online, I also offer sessions based in nature.
It’s incredibly important to me that the space I offer is neurodiversity affirming, as well as LGBTQIA+ affirming, disability affirming, anti-racist and fat-positive. I’m always happy to share more about what this means in practice if you have an aspect (or intersectional aspects) of your identity that are impacted by oppression.
Whether you want to focus on a specific issue or problem, or simply to understand yourself and your experience better, therapy can offer a space for you to slow down and reconnect with yourself, while being seen, heard and supported. It can also offer the opportunity to build up tools and resources that you can use outside of the therapy room, helping you to be more resilient as you respond to the inevitable challenges of being a human.
Practice description
The theories I work with include psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, nature therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, gestalt therapy, mindfulness based stress reduction and somatic movement based trauma therapy. I'm also passionate about the role of neuroscience in helping us to understand and manage our experiences. Don't worry too much about whether any of these approaches are right for you though. They're just a collection of tools that can support our work together as we explore the struggles or experiences that have brought you to therapy.
Outside of my work as a counsellor and therapist, I’m a meditation teacher, a sound practitioner, a yoga teacher and a wellbeing in nature facilitator. While I don't always bring these elements into the counselling room, it's safe to say I believe that a holistic approach that works with the mind, body and nervous system can be hugely beneficial.
My approach is trauma informed and rooted in safely connecting with yourself and your experience, in a way that works for you. That might mean focussing on what's happening for you in the here and now, or exploring the past and how it affects the present. What ever you're wanting to explore, I'm here to support you.
I offer both short-term and long-term counselling, with the flexibility to meet weekly or fortnightly.
Standard pricing is £60 with some concessionary spaces available.
My first session
I offer a complimentary, 15 minute session so we can have a chat and get to know each other. It's important to me that you have an opportunity to share your reasons for coming to therapy and find out whether I'm a good fit for you.
I'll be happy to share a bit more about my approach, along with the ways that I might be able to support you in your specific struggles. You'll also have an opportunity to ask questions.
If we go on to work together, our first full session will be an opportunity to explore your reasons for coming to therapy and any relevant past experiences that you wish to share.

About me and my therapy practice
Holistic, integrative therapeutic counselling, somatic therapy and nature therapy. Available online or via zoom.
Thank you for being here. I’m excited to share my nature therapy offering with you. If you’re looking for a fully qualified counsellor or therapist who offers sessions outside, in the natural world, you’ve come to the right place. You can read more about how nature based counselling and psychotherapy can support you here.
If you’re looking for online therapy or in person therapy indoors, you can head to my counselling and therapy page here. My own journey towards becoming a counsellor started with my experience of therapy as a client. Exploring my challenges in a safe, supportive and affirming space helped me to live a more connected and fulfilled life. As well as going to therapy, I’ve always really benefited from the healing powers of the natural world, so I’m excited to be able to bring counselling and psychotherapy out into nature, so that the magic of the natural environment can support you on your journey.
Aside from the supportive benefits of being held by nature, my approach as a therapist outside follows a similar path to my approach when working inside. You might want to focus on a specific problem, or perhaps you want to understand yourself and your experience better. Maye you just need some space to simply be with your experience outside of the hustle and bustle of day to day life.
The types of therapy I work with include nature allied therapy, psychodynamic therapy, gestalt therapy, humanistic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and somatic trauma therapy. I’m also a licensed meditation teacher, a yoga teacher, a sound practitioner and I do work around spirituality and wellbeing in nature. You don’t necessarily need to work out whether any of these approaches are right for you, they’re simply tools that I’ll use to support you as we explore the natural world together, as well as explore the experiences that have led you to seek counselling.

The theories I work with include gestalt therapy, humanistic therapy, nature based therapy, psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, somatic movement based trauma therapy and mindfulness and meditation. We can also incorporate spiritual exploration if that's something that you align with.
I believe in working with the mind, body and the nervous system to take a holistic approach to exploring our experiences. With that in mind, I work with neuroscience based understandings of the nervous system and its role in mental health and wellbeing. Those are details you don't need to worry about too much though. They're simply tools that we can explore together.
Outside of my work as a therapist I'm a sound practitioner, a meditation teacher and I offer wellbeing workshops and hold circles that are rooted in nature based spirituality.
I offer short-term and long-term counselling, with the flexibility to meet weekly or fortnightly. My standard rate is £60 or I have some concessionary rates available.

If we go on to work together, our first full session will be an opportunity to explore your reasons for coming to therapy and any relevant past experiences that you wish to share.
The therapy journey is a collaboration and the approach we take will depend on where you are and what you'd like to get out of working with a counsellor.
