About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, my name is Elaine and I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor Dip HE and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP 405150), adhering to their ethical framework.

I am also a member of the Association for Person Centred Creative Arts (APCCA). I hold a valid Data Protection Certificate, registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), an enhanced DBS certificate, Level 3 Safeguarding children and I am also fully insured.

I have over 600 clinical practice hours with children, young people and adults. I feel extremely privileged that my training has also given me the opportunity to experience supporting those in the neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ communities.

I am passionate about working in a person-centred modality, which acknowledges people as individuals; supporting them while they explore, identify, and overcome challenges and problems.

At its core the Person-Centred perspective views everyone with the drive and ability to create the change they seek in their lives. My role is to create a safe environment which will support and assist you on your journey of self-discovery.

I am committed to keeping my practice up to date, with regular training, continuous personal and professional development, and monthly clinical supervision sessions.

Practice description

I provide both short and long-term therapy, dependent on your needs.

Each session lasts for 50 minutes and for counselling to have a positive effect it is important that you attend sessions regularly, but how long you remain in therapy is your choice.

Therapy sessions are as unique as the individuals we are, so I offer various approaches to counselling -  face-to-face, online, walk and talk, creative arts and play therapy.

Testimonial

"My counselling sessions with Elaine have been very important to my wellbeing. Elaine is incredibly understanding and thoughtful, she always listens with care to whatever is on my mind and helps untangle my thoughts and feelings. Overall, our sessions have been a lifeline and I wouldn't be where I am today without Elaine's support." - Lucy

My first session

I believe that what makes therapy effective is the relationship that is built up between the counsellor and the client. Building a relationship where you feel seen and heard and are able to open up and share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment

I offer a 15 minute complementary online or phone consultation to discuss what brings you to counselling and what you would like to achieve. It is an opportunity to see whether we would be able to work together and to answer any questions that you may have about sessions and the way I work. There is no obligation to return

If we both decide to work together then we would agree a therapeutic contract. Subsequent sessions are usually 50 minutes weekly however we can discuss length and frequency

I offer a safe, confidential space. I will listen, value your uniqueness and be respectful of your feelings. I will work alongside you to explore your individual experience at your pace, enabling you to find resolutions to the problems you may be facing.
