About me and my therapy practice
Hello,
Asking for help is a sign of strength. You have shown strength already by accessing resources to find a therapist.
My aim is to give you space to be heard, accepted, and to help you find a new perspective. I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and will draw on different therapeutic approaches to tailor therapy specifically for your needs. Whether you need to unpack something from the past or focus on an issue here and now, Integrative Therapy allows you to lead the sessions at your own pace, to learn more about your unconscious processes and gain a deeper understanding of the relationship dynamics you experience. By gaining better self-awareness about the 'how and why' you operate, you can focus on helping you thrive. I believe that deep down, every individual knows what they want, but life's challenges can sometimes cause feelings of fear, loss or lack of control. You might be experiencing inner conflict; living by someone else’s values, or having to put others' needs before your own. Perhaps you haven’t had the chance to listen to your own voice in a while.
I am committed to providing a safe, supportive environment to work with you to help you find clarity. We can't change the past - we can learn from it. Counselling can help you to understand what your core values are, to re-frame your perspective and move forwards. I strongly believe you have all the resources within you; my role is to help you access them.
If you are experiencing feelings of overwhelm, grief, anxiety, lack of direction; facing a work-related problem or relationship issues; whatever life is throwing at you, speaking to a Counsellor can be one of the greatest steps you can take to finding a clear path ahead.
Practice description
I offer open-ended therapy in weekly sessions of 50-minutes. I work face to face or on-line. Open ended means there is no maximum or minimum number of sessions but I suggest a minimum of 6 sessions when starting with new clients.
Using Integrative therapy we work at your pace, drawing on different theoretical approaches depending on where the session leads us. You might be goal orientated and want to take a dynamic approach to address an issue here and now, or you may need time and space to reflect on experiences and feelings around past events. Sometimes you will know exactly what you want to talk about; and sometimes the most surprising things will come into focus for you.
Although the therapy is open ended, we will have regular reviews to check you are getting what you need out of the sessions.
My first session
I offer an initial free 20-minute phone-call or on-line meet for you to decide if I am the right Counsellor for you.
After that, we agree a weekly session time at the same time and day each week. Sessions are 50 minutes long (sometimes referred to as 'a counselling hour'). I offer face to face sessions in Esher (Surrey). I am also happy to work on-line.
