About me and my therapy practice
My name is Diana and I’m an integrative person-centred counsellor. My way of working is primarily relational: the healing potential of the therapeutic relationship itself lies at the heart of my person-centred approach. I am integrative in my openness to drawing on insights from a variety of therapeutic approaches to best meet your needs. I will offer you a safe, empathic and authentic therapeutic relationship, free of judgment. I will work alongside you and at your pace to discover and understand the origins of the problems you are experiencing, how they are being maintained, and together we will figure out new perspectives and ways forward.
I trained at Network Counselling and Training in Bristol, on the ‘A Way of Being’ introductory course, the Advanced Certificate in Counselling Skills and the Advanced Diploma in Counselling, a BACP accredited course. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and undertake regular continual professional development.
I have a wealth of experience working relationally with adults and young people from a variety of backgrounds, identities and beliefs. I am a qualified teacher and for many years taught music and personal, social and health education; I now assist the training department at Network as a mentor, facilitator and tutor. I previously worked for the university supporting and promoting student mental health and wellbeing. I have volunteered with HomeStart and Bristol Churches’ Shelter supporting those struggling to cope.
Practice description
Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress or depression? Are you trying to cope with relationship or family issues, past trauma or abuse? Are you struggling with a significant change in your life, such as bereavement, becoming a parent or carer, going through menopause, receiving a diagnosis, facing illness, disability, redundancy or retirement? Maybe there’s something you’d like to work through, such as making a difficult decision about the future? Maybe you have low self-esteem, or are just not feeling yourself and want to find a way forward? If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, counselling may help.
Sometimes just having someone to share our problems with can be healing, talking through with someone who will listen without judgment or giving advice. I will offer you a safe, comfortable and private space to explore what is troubling you and will be alongside you as we seek to understand more about the issues you bring. I will support you to get to know yourself more deeply and live your life more authentically.
I offer 1:1 face-to-face and online video sessions. I work from dedicated, accessible counselling rooms at Network Counselling and Training, Elm Park, Filton, Bristol BS34 7PS, just off the A38; there is parking and public transport nearby. Sessions last 50 minutes, usually weekly, and cost £50 per session; payment is via bank transfer. If you need to cancel a session, please give at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid being charged.
If you feel ready to take this next step, you are very welcome to contact me.
My first session
Choosing a counsellor can feel daunting. It’s important that you feel comfortable and able to talk freely. That’s why I offer a free 30-minute initial session with no obligation to continue. We will discuss what you hope to get out of therapy, how it might help and decide if it feels right for you. If you choose to continue after our initial session, we will arrange a regular time to meet. We can set a time frame for your counselling or keep things open-ended.
