About me and my therapy practice

Are you feeling unhappy, but don't know why?

To others, your life might seem good, yet you feel disconnected, unenthusiastic and feel like crying. You can’t really talk about it with anyone you know, because they won’t understand.

Or maybe you're lost.

Life seems to have passed you by. You’re struggling with the ‘what-ifs’ and ‘should-haves’. You may want a change in your life but don’t know where to begin. You feel overwhelmed and stuck.

I started my counselling practice because I saw people in their 20s, 30s and 40s struggling with meaning and purpose in their lives.

As a result, they felt apathetic and as if their lives were on autopilot.

They couldn’t concentrate, had little energy, and were up late at night worrying about the future.

But it’s possible to feel inspired and excited about life again.

How can therapy help me?

It’s hard to make decisions when you can’t hear yourself. I offer a supportive and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

Investing in therapy can help you to feel more fulfilled by:

  • Exploring your thoughts and feelings in a supportive and confidential space – so that you can develop clarity.
  • Identifying your values and motivations – so that you can discover a sense of purpose and direction.
  • Hearing your own inner voice – so that you can make choices with confidence.

Feeling unhappy and lost can have tangible impacts on your life. If you’re finding it hard to concentrate, have little energy, or are up late at night worrying about the future, it’s worth exploring why.

Practice description

How do I work?

My approach to therapy is person-centred. This means that I believe that you are the expert on yourself and your own life. During our sessions, you’ll usually do most of the talking, and I will do most of the listening.

I see my role as a companion on your journey. I will reflect back what I hear and observe, commenting where appropriate. Hearing yourself is very powerful.

I will help you explore your own feelings, beliefs and behaviour so that you can become more self-aware. You’ll discover your own resources, abilities, and autonomy, which will enable you to make lasting changes in your life.

Expat counselling

As an expat of 13 years, I specialise in supporting clients who are part of the international community.

Whether they’ve relocated for work, love or adventure, my international clients often struggle with loneliness, anxiety and self-doubt.

After the initial excitement of moving abroad wore off, they had to navigate daily life without the familiarity of home and their support system.

Relationships can be difficult enough even before adding cultural adjustment to the mix. Clients who moved to be with a partner often have to start over again in their careers, which affects their sense of self. This can strain even the strongest relationship.

And what about the family left behind? As loved ones age, how important is it to be close by? Many clients will, at some point, face the big decision of whether to move back home. There usually isn’t one right choice.

Counselling has helped my expat clients to regain confidence and feel a sense of belonging in their new home.
