About me and my therapy practice
My interest in helping people began in 2003 with supporting young offenders away from repeat offending through the Youth Justice Board.
I studied addictions in 2006 and qualified with a Cert (H.E) from Staffordshire University in 2008 and have worked long term in this field. This continues to be my passion and I specialise in substance use and misuse, over the counter medication misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation and gambling.
I also work with families, carers and loved ones of those in active addiction. Shame plays a substantial role in whether we can approach someone for support around this. Hiding our pain, grief and bewilderment is a barrier and my role is to facilitate an acceptance of what is happening in order to be able to change how we respond to it.
I have worked within the NHS and organisations providing sexual abuse and rape crisis support. I worked within mental health delivering groups programmes in managing anxiety and depression.
Qualifying from Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in collaboration with Staffordshire University with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy in 2023. The course is accredited by the BACP and I adhere to the ethical framework set out by them.
I work within a integrated model of therapy. I work to tailor to your needs and help identify and achieve your goals. Sometimes its enough to have someone listen without judgement or criticism.
