About me and my therapy practice
Hello! I'm Ester Cunill, a dedicated and compassionate CBT psychotherapist with a passion for helping individuals navigate the complexities of their mental health. With a background in different type of therapies and extensive experience in the field, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my practice. It's worth noting that I provide sessions in English, Spanish, and Catalan, ensuring a personalised and inclusive approach to your mental well-being journey.
For four years, I was part of Hestia's Modern Slavery Response Team, where I worked with survivors of modern slavery and specialised in crisis and risk management. I also worked as a CBT Therapist at BCCS for two years, helping improve community mental health.
I then joined CAMHS and the Youth Offending Service, supporting the mental well-being of young people at risk of exploitation. My job included mental health assessments in custody, interventions with young people and their families, and supervising other child well-being practitioners.
In my private clinic, I offer personalised, holistic therapy using various methods like Humanistic therapy, Attachment therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Compassionate-focused therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy.
I tailor my interventions to the individual needs and preferences of each client, fostering a therapeutic alliance and creating a safe and supportive environment. By employing a variety of therapeutic techniques and exercises, I enable clients to enhance their emotional regulation, coping skills, and resilience. My mission is to guide clients towards a deeper understanding of themselves and their potential, and to support them in achieving their personal and therapeutic goals whilst promoting their overall well-being.
Practice description
My approach is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), combined with the innovative techniques of the third wave. CBT serves as a map to understand the interconnected nature of our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and actions. It helps us break free from unhelpful cycles where negative thoughts lead to distressing emotions, influencing our actions and relationships. Within CBT, we delve into the past to uncover origins and subtle beliefs fuelling patterns responsible for current issues. By reshaping thought and behaviour, CBT aims to improve emotional well-being and social interactions. My carefully crafted third wave CBT adopts a holistic approach, using a toolbox of techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Schema Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), among others. These interventions, beyond traditional CBT, prioritize the overall well-being of our minds and bodies, leading you to a happier and healthier version of yourself.
