About me and my therapy practice
I am a certified person-centred counsellor situated in Flintshire, North Wales. I work with age 18 and over. My approach is rooted in compassion, trustworthiness, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to helping individuals manage their emotional and mental well-being. My mission is to accompany you on your journey of self-discovery, healing, and personal growth.
While I primarily practice person-centred therapy, I'm open to incorporating elements from various therapeutic approaches, such as CBT and creative therapies, to address each client's specific needs. I firmly believe that there's no one-size-fits-all solution and that everyone has the potential to lead a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Practice description
Within my practice, I offer a secure, confidential, and non-judgmental environment where you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, make sense of life's complexities, and develop strategies for coping with emotional challenges. I understand the profound impact that counselling can have when pursued at the right time and with the right counsellor.
Working with ages 18 and over I offer sessions in person, via video or on the telephone. I also offer a free initial telephone call which lasts for approximately 15 minutes. This allows us both a chance to get to know one another a little better and enables you to assess whether you feel you can connect with me, as the therapeutic relationship is a key part of the counselling process.
During the phone call, I will ask if you are comfortable completing a short intake form which we would complete together, alternatively, if you prefer the form can be emailed directly to you and you can complete it before your first session.
My first session
Keep in mind that the first session is mostly about information gathering and establishing a therapeutic relationship. It will include introductions, contracting and a chance to tell your story and explain the problems you’re experiencing. It is normal to feel nervous or unsure during this initial meeting, but over time, as you build trust and rapport with me, you'll likely become more comfortable and find the counselling process more effective. It is essential to be open, honest, and transparent during your first counselling session to ensure you receive the best support and guidance.
I do ask for a short intake form to be completed and this is usually done during the initial telephone call. However, it can also be done at the beginning of the first session.
Once the intake form and contract have been reviewed you are then welcome to begin the session when you feel ready. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. You are always in control of the session and only share what you feel comfortable with.
