About me and my therapy practice
Life can be really challenging at times. We humans may experience traumatic events, loss, low self-esteem, or difficulties in our relationships. We can feel grief, guilt, shame, anger, stress, anxiety and depression. Sometimes painful emotions can feel overwhelming. Even when we have family or friends we trust, to share our problems with and support us, it can really help to talk to a therapist who will listen with empathy and without judgment or criticism.
I am a fully qualified and experienced Psychodynamic therapist, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Psychodynamic therapy helps you to understand how your current feelings and behaviour are shaped by your past experiences and your unconscious mind. When we unravel the past, it can help us recognise and make sense of unhelpful patterns in our present lives. These patterns can sometimes result in us feeling "stuck". Working together with a therapist we trust, we can become more self-aware and develop our capacity for resilience, growth and belief in ourselves going forward. This is turn can have a positive impact on our relationships.
I have a BACP accredited Diploma in Psychotherapeutic (Psychodynamic) Counselling. I have worked as a volunteer for a community counselling organisation as well as starting my own private practice. As a member of BACP I undertake regular training and learning activities to continue my professional development. I also have regular supervision with an experienced BACP accredited supervisor.
Practice description
I can provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours. You can bring anything you want to talk about and we will work at a pace which suits you. I will listen carefully and help you feel heard and understood. I will not provide advice but my interventions and questions will be framed in such a way as to facilitate your own "making sense of" your internal world.
I offer 50 minute sessions at the same time each week; either short term (time-limited) or longer term (open ended). We can meet face to face from my comfortable practice on the outskirts of Chichester in Westhampnett. Or if you prefer, I am happy for us to meet online, using Zoom.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute initial telephone conversation. This is for us to talk about what brings you to therapy and whether we might be the right fit for working together.
The first and subsequent 50 minute face to face or online sessions are £45.
