About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist by training and practice. This means that rather than following one therapeutic approach, I will combine different concepts and ideas depending on the issues you bring and your preferred way of working.

Together we are going to explore your thoughts and feelings, which will lead to a greater awareness and better understanding of your issues and how best to approach them. Counselling/therapy may also involve learning different tools and techniques or formulating and evaluating goals and planning specific steps towards change.

My therapeutic approach is especially influenced by the person-centred, psychodynamic and mindfulness traditions, but I also enjoy working practically with clients in a more structured, CBT orientated way.

Practice description

I offer a friendly, professional and confidential counselling and psychotherapy service to support you in times of difficulty or reflection.

I can help you gain a better understanding of your issues and offer you tools and techniques to deal with specific problems. This can enable you to make positive changes to your life, gain greater self-esteem and live your life more fully.

I have particular experience working with anxiety and depression, anger management, work and family issues and bereavement and loss. My interests also include cultural and personality differences, questions of identity and personal development and working with dreams, imagery and metaphors.

If you would like to talk with me about how counselling/therapy may be able to help you, we can arrange an introductory session with no obligation to continue. Please contact me in confidence, and I can answer any of your questions.

My first session

An introductory session gives us both the opportunity to consider whether and how we wish to work together. As an integrative counsellor and therapist, I am going to ask you some questions to tailor my approach to your needs and preferences. I may ask you about any previous experiences of counselling and therapy, your hopes and expectations for our sessions, and where you see the roots of your issues. My aim for the first session is to develop a mutual and realistic understanding of your therapeutic goals and how we can best address these.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified integrative supervisor and offer supervision via video and telephone. I enjoy supporting counsellors and therapists in their work with clients by drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches. Above all, my aim is to create a safe and non-judgmental space for supervisees to feel able to bring any issues or concerns.

Practice description

Supervision in my view is a space for reflection and re-experiencing where we can freely and creatively explore challenges and celebrate achievements. Empathy, warmth and authenticity are key qualities of such an affirming supervisory relationship. I have been working as an integrative therapist for over a decade and have been an active participant in a number of different group and peer supervision settings. In June 2018, I formalized my role as supervisor with the completion of the Diploma in Integrative Supervision of Individuals and Groups with The Grove.

My first session

The first session gives us both the opportunity to consider whether and how we wish to work together. As an integrative supervisor, my aim is to tailor my approach to your needs and preferences as a supervisee. I may ask you questions about your previous experiences of supervision, your therapeutic approach and what you are looking for in a supervisor. As part of the first session, we will also review and discuss the terms of the supervision agreement so that we can start this important professional relationship with clarity and transparency.
