About me and my therapy practice
With Christmas just around the corner, you may be wondering how you’ll cope. Everyone else seems happy and busy but you may be feeling lost and alone. Perhaps you’re experiencing a difficult phase of life as you encounter a change you haven’t chosen.
Life transitions can leave you feeling confused, uncertain, and alone. They often shake the foundations of who we are and what we believe. You might be dealing with one or more of the following:
- Relationship breakdowns, family estrangements, or the loss of close friendships.
- Challenges related to childlessness, infertility, or miscarriage.
- Adjusting to job loss, retirement, or career transitions.
- Coping with serious illness, chronic conditions, or cognitive changes.
How are you feeling right now?
With changes like these, it's normal to experience an overwhelming mix of sadness, anger, or anxiety. The lack of understanding from others can intensify these feelings, leaving you feeling isolated or disconnected. You might even feel guilt or resentment.
Perhaps you’re unsure of who you are or what you truly want, yet afraid to make changes, unsure of where to start. Maybe you feel haunted by a sense of emptiness, knowing something needs to change but feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and uncertain.
You don’t have to face this alone.
These feelings, though incredibly challenging, are normal. Whether you're struggling to get through each day, finding it hard to get out of bed, or trying to maintain relationships, I can support you in exploring what stability and clarity look like for you.

How Can Counselling Help?
Counselling can help you find clarity, regain stability, and build resilience as you navigate life’s challenges. Here’s how our work together can support you:
- Make Sense of Your Experiences: We’ll process your feelings to help you gain clarity, understand what’s happening, and feel less overwhelmed – empowering you to move forward with greater self-compassion.
- Regain a Sense of Control: We’ll explore practical strategies and set achievable goals to restore your confidence and stability, so you can handle life’s challenges with a renewed sense of control.
- Strengthen Your Coping Skills and Resilience: We’ll work on building healthier coping mechanisms and emotional resilience, so you’re better equipped to face future challenges with greater balance and confidence.
Why Work With Me?
In my counselling career, I’ve supported a diverse range of clients
- Adults in my private practice
- Clients through a local charity
- Young people in local schools
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years in financial services, which gave me firsthand insight into the demands of high-pressure work environments and the toll they can take on mental health and well-being.
However, it was my own experience of profound, unexpected loss that has most deeply shaped my approach to therapy. Rebuilding my life after such a significant change helped me understand:
- The courage it takes to seek help
- The emotional toll of navigating life’s challenges
I know what it’s like to face the daunting task of finding a new way forward and adjusting to a life that looks different from what you had planned. This personal journey has given me unique insight into the emotional complexities my clients face during periods of transition, loss, or feeling stuck.
Ready for Change?
Take the first step towards support by reaching out today. Contact me to schedule a free introductory call to explore how we can work together during this challenging time.
My first session
Research shows the quality of the relationship between counsellor and client is central to the effectiveness of the therapy. Therefore, I encourage you to trust your intuition in selecting the counsellor who best suits your needs.
If you decide to work with me, our primary focus will be on establishing a foundation of trust and understanding. We'll begin by discussing what prompted you to seek counselling and explore the challenges or difficulties you're currently facing.
I’ll invite you to share your expectations and hopes for how life might be different as a result of counselling. Understanding your goals and aspirations will help us tailor our therapeutic approach to best meet your needs.
As part of the assessment process, I'll ask you a series of questions to gain deeper insight into your unique experiences, values, strengths, and personal history. These questions may cover various aspects of your life, including your upbringing, family dynamics, past experiences, coping mechanisms, and any significant events or traumas that have shaped your journey.
Throughout our conversation, please feel free to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Our sessions are a safe and confidential space where you can express yourself openly and honestly, without fear of judgment.
By the end of our first session, my aim is for you to feel heard, understood, and supported on your journey towards healing and growth. Together, we'll embark on a collaborative journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and positive change.
