About me and my therapy practice
I provide a safe, confidential and empathic space where you can explore your emotions, experiences and relationships (to self and others). Through gaining deeper awareness and connection to our emotions and responses, we can be empowered to have greater choice, and live in a more meaningful and connected way.
There are many reasons that you may be seeking therapy. In our first session, we will explore what brings you to therapy, and think about whether we could work well together.
I am an Integrative therapist drawing on humanistic, psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches. In our sessions we will work at your pace to explore your thoughts and feelings, in relation to both present difficulties, as well as past experiences and relationship patterns. I encourage close attention to how the body responds, to foster a deeper mind-body connection.
Issues I have experience working with include anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, attachment and family issues, sexual abuse, loss, issues related to identity and oppression, stress, burn-out, low-self esteem and shame.
My approach is relational, meaning that I understand that experiences in relationship deeply impact how safe and secure we feel. It also means that in our sessions, we will consider the relationship between the two of us as a way to build awareness, and foster healthier relationship patterns outside of therapy. I work in a trauma informed way, holding an understanding that the things we often see in ourselves as ‘problems’ are actually healthy responses to past difficulties. I also work with an awareness of how systems of oppression impact us and I make space to explore and honour different intersections of identity. My practice is queer and trans affirmative.
We will work collaboratively to develop your internal resources. This might be in relation to managing stress or anxiety, over-coming difficult past experiences, or building more fulfilling and connected relationships.
Practice description
I am BACP registered with a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and I am also completing an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from the Minster Centre. Alongside my private practice, I work as a group therapist in a therapeutic community with refugees and asylum seekers who are survivors of violence.
I offer weekly sessions at the same time each week. Sessions last for 50 minutes. I have in-person availability on Wednesday mornings/early afternoon.
Regrettably, at present my in-person sessions are not held in an accessible building.
Sessions rates are £80. Concession rates are available for daytime slots (£65). Please get in touch over email for more details (ibn.therapy@gmail.com).
My first session
There are times where it may feel difficult to reach out or commit to coming for an initial session. If this is the case for you, or if you would like to know more information to understand if working together would be right for you, please reach out via email at ibn.therapy@gmail.com
If we decide to meet, our first meeting will focus on understanding why you have come to therapy and what you hope to get out of it. It will also give us both a chance to get a sense of each other and work out if we can build a relationship that will be therapeutic for you.
