About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrated Counsellor using three main approaches including person-centred, CBT, and psychodynamic, and will draw on these depending on what you need.
Overall I work with clients in the following way:
• creating an open and safe environment for you to share and explore your feelings and experiences without judgment
• encouraging curiosity about thinking, feeling, and behavioural styles and patterns
• helping to explore root causes of problems, including exploring your past
• providing information on psychological conditions and concepts, and making suggestions for treatment/solutions (this will mean you will try things out between sessions)
I hold a Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling and am currently studying an MSc in Workplace Health and Wellbeing. I am also a workplace mentor and Mental Health Champion.
Practice description
I'm collaborative, working with you to explore your experiences and find answers and solutions. It's important that you feel able to to talk without judgement and I will offer you compassion and care.
Mainly I work with adults 18+ with a range of needs and goals. I provide either one-off single sessions (1.5 hours) or weekly 1 hour sessions on a short term (6 to 12 weeks) or long term basis (3 months+).
My experience includes helping clients with stress, anxiety, depression/low mood, relationship issues, impact of neurodiversity on everyday life, bereavement (people and pets), life stage changes and challenges (eg menopause, getting older, taking on more responsibility as a young adult) issues from the past, family problems, and career and work difficulties and changes.
Healing and change is possible, we each have the power and courage to achieve it. Sometimes we just need someone to be with us for a while, until we find our way.
My first session
The first session will include an assessment to help identify what's happening for you - this will help me to understand you and is a great starting point for therapy for you. You'll also be able to use it to help decide what your goals and priorities are for counselling. But don't worry, there may be things you don't want to talk about at this stage and that's ok, you can take it at your own pace.
The first session will be a chance to understand what will happen in counselling, find out more about my approach (and decide if it's what you need) and in general meet each other albeit virtually.
