About me and my therapy practice
I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor with a background in the arts.
I have experience of working in community counselling clinics, suicide prevention services and the NHS. I have specialist experience of working with women during pregnancy and postnatally.
Practice description
The psychodynamic model addresses how unconscious processes and defence patterns developed in childhood affect relationships, both with ourselves and others.
Our internal world is often in conflict with itself in ways which are troubling or cause obstacles and compromise our functioning in daily life. This might manifest as anxiety, depression or anger. Or there could be a sense that you may not be leading the life you want. These thoughts and feelings are often exacerbated during periods of change and transition.
Through talking in a confidential and non-judgemental space, our work together would involve exploring and developing awareness of those unconscious patterns and conflicts, to open up a different experience of the self and to engage more creatively with life.
