About me and my therapy practice

Asking for help isn’t giving up, it’s refusing to give up.

Everyone experiences difficult, thoughts and feelings which can interfere with everyday life and relationships. At times facing these difficulties can feel distressing or frightening. 

Recognising that you could do with support is the first step towards improving your mental health and if you are reading this you are already on the path to better mental and emotional wellbeing.

I understand and empathise that it can be daunting to take the first steps towards dealing with difficulties and making changes in your life but, taking small steps can lead to big changes and you can rest assured that I will be by your side to support you all the way.

Whether your difficulties affect you directly or indirectly or are from the past or in the present I am here to help you as it is my firm belief, that no-one should have to face mental health problems alone.

Sometimes the bravest word is 'Hi" and if you choose to get in contact, with your courage and my support you can begin to understand yourself and your difficulties with more clarity, recognise the things that are holding you back and discover different ways to make positive change happen and move forward.

Through a valuing and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship I will provide you with a safe space to gently heal and discover new possibilities in your life. Whatever your situation you can be assured of a sensitive and reassuring welcome and an approach which is responsive to your individual requirements.

Practice description

No single approach is the right one for every individual. My clients, which includes children, young people, and adults, are from different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicity and all have their own individual experience.

I provide a healing experience, characterised by acceptance, warmth and understanding and help you face challenges in a safe, confidential setting. I offer a respectful approach which pays close attention to your individual story, allowing you to explore your difficulties and take control of your future, in a way that is right for you.

Each and every client is supported to find healthy perceptions of themselves, and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole and safe individuals through an integrative approach to therapy.

Although the approach as a whole is integrative, the Humanistic (Person Centred) approach, with the core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard is placed very much at the foundation of the work. 

I also embrace aspects of Psychodynamic Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic Theory, Solution Focused Approaches, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Motivational and Psycho-educational techniques to name but, a few other approaches.

Integrative therapy allows the therapist to adapt the approach used to be responsive and meet the needs of each individual client. Through gentle exploration within a non-judgemental, valuing and empathic relationship, clients are empowered and enabled to express their feelings, bring clarity to their experience and to find their own way through their present difficulties within a tailored therapeutic approach.

Furthermore as an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, you can be sure of a high standard of ethical and professional practice  This continued professional guidance ensures that my  practice is of an approved ethical and safe standard.
