Availability

I am fairly flexible, so please do get in touch, and I will see if I can accommodate your preferred times. 

I offer appointments in person via consulting rooms in Colne, East Lancashire, or alternatively online via video call or over the phone. 

Mondays & Tuesdays - during working hours up to 6pm

Weds/Thurs/Fridays - during working hours up to 2pm

Summer Holidays: 19th July – 5th September – Monday – Wednesday only. During working hours up to 6pm.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Claire and I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor, working with teens and adults.  

I have an optimistic view of human nature and believe that, given a safe space in which to gently explore, we can increase our self awareness and work to understand and resolve inner conflicts. 

I will work with you, providing an environment where you feel heard, and building trust between us so that you feel safe to reflect on your feelings and experiences, and providing appropriate interventions and gentle challenge to help you to move forward. 

I believe that you are the expert on you, and that having a qualified counsellor to walk alongside you as you examine your feelings and experiences, can allow you the freedom to consider new perspectives. 

I have supported people with relationship issues, anxiety, low self esteem,  depression, long term illness, grief, childhood trauma and neglect, identity issues, pregnancy and post natal related issues, feeling stuck or lost, personal boundaries.

Practice description

I am a BACP registered Counsellor with experience working with teens and adults. 

Whilst primarily person centred, I have also completed trainings in other modalities, meaning that I am able to tailor my approach to your specific experience and circumstances in a more integrative way. 

We will start by agreeing the way in which we will work together, so that we both know what to expect from each other. There will then be space for you to explain the feelings and events which have brought you to therapy. Together we will explore the emotions and themes which hold most importance for you. Listening with respect, empathy and a genuine desire to experience your world as you do, I aim to provide an environment in which you can better understand yourself and begin to move forward. 

Sessions are 50 minutes long and I offer weekly or fortnightly appointments.

My first session

Initially, we will have a free telephone consultation which will last around 20 minutes. 

This is an opportunity for you ask any particular questions you may have, to explain what you are seeking from therapy, and for me to explain in more detail the way in which I work. If I do not believe that I am the right therapist for you then I will let you know immediately. 

If, at the end of the telephone consultation, we are both happy to proceed, then we can arrange to meet for our first weekly session. This first session is about getting to know you and your wishes and goals for therapy.

If after the first session you feel that I am not the right therapist for you, or that you are not yet ready for therapy, there is no obligation to continue - we can simply stop our work together.
