About me and my therapy practice

Hello, and welcome.

Taking the step to reach out for support can feel daunting, but you've already made the first move by being here. I understand how life’s challenges, big or small, can sometimes feel overwhelming, and you don’t have to face them alone.

I’m Helen, a person-centered counsellor with a passion for creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions. Whether you're feeling stuck, experiencing loss, or simply seeking clarity, I’m here to listen, support, and help you find your way forward.

I’m here to offer you a safe, compassionate space to explore whatever you may be facing—whether it’s working through a personal struggle, coping with a life-changing event, or striving to achieve a particular goal.

I’m particularly passionate about supporting those grieving the loss of a companion animal, your family member. Our relationships with our animals are so special, and the pain of losing them can feel overwhelming. I’m a member of the Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors and take great care in offering a space of understanding and empathy for those going through this unique grief.

Whether you need support to work through a particular issue or need someone to listen, I’m here to help. I offer you a space where you are genuinely seen, heard, and understood. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, navigating tough decisions, or feeling adrift, I provide a safe and nurturing environment for you to explore your concerns.

When you walk through my door (or log into our virtual session), you're not just another client to me. You're a unique individual with your own story, struggles, and strengths. And my job isn't to tell you what to do or how to feel—it's to help you uncover the answers that are already within you.

I am warm and open, and I work in an informal relaxed way.

I invite you to reach out whenever you're ready.

Practice description

I work in a person-centred way and hold a master's degree in counselling. I'm deeply committed to ongoing learning and have recently completed further training in working with complex trauma.

Throughout my practice, I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients from a wide range of backgrounds, each with their own unique challenges. I have particular experience in helping those affected by domestic abuse and individuals grieving the loss of a loved one through suicide.

One area especially close to my heart is pet bereavement. I truly understand the deep bond we form with our animals, and how losing a beloved pet can leave you feeling isolated in your grief. I’m here to provide a compassionate space where you can feel truly heard as you work through that profound loss.

To meet your needs, I offer a variety of therapeutic options, whether online, over the phone, or in person. For those who enjoy being outdoors, I also offer “walk and talk” therapy locally, combining the calming effect of nature with a supportive conversation.

However we connect, my priority is to make sure you feel listened to, understood, and valued.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute initial call, giving you a chance to get to know me and ask any questions you may have. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable and safe, as our relationship is at the heart of the work we’ll do together. The call also allows me to understand what you're looking for and to see if I’m the right person to support you on your journey.

My main sessions are 50 min in duration and I offer both short and long term counselling.
