I offer individual sessions face to face, online or telephonic from quiet, comfortable rooms in Haslemere Surrey.
I work Tuesdays and Saturday mornings as well as Thursday evenings online. I work with adults from 18 years and above.
I believe counselling whether short or long term can offer you invaluable insight into self with potential long term gains.
About me and my therapy practice
At times life can seem overwhelming and you might not be able to understand the reasons why or to see a clear way forward. I believe through counselling I can offer you a calm safe environment where you will have the opportunity to be heard. This allows you to process your feelings and gain insight into your thoughts and behaviours, at times working on past events will help you to understand how your past influences the way you behave and think in the present.
As a Integrative therapist I use a range of modalities to help my clients engage with their emotions and feel able to express their thoughts and emotions. This might be through talking , but I am comfortable being creative as well, using emotion cards, pebbles, music and art to support your process.
As well as individual therapy I do offer the opportunity for walk and talk therapy. Walk and Talk therapy is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates walking while talking. Sometimes it might feel daunting and even overwhelming to talk about your concerns sitting directly opposite a counsellor thus walking and talking breaks that barrier. Clients may feel less intimidated while walking and this gives them the opportunity to express their emotions and thoughts. Walking is also an added enhancement to your mental health by providing the release of feel good hormones through the exercise.
I realise life is busy and at times fitting all you need to do during the week a real juggle, thus I do work on a Saturday. If you would like further information about me as a counsellor or if counselling could work for you, please feel free to contact me by phone or mail.
Practice description
My approach to counselling is integrative, this means I believe that there is not just one approach that can help you in your situation. I take account of you as an individual and your circumstances and use elements of different approaches to aid you in exploring your difficulty.
Integrative therapy can assist in a range of short or long term issues.
I am a registered member of the BACP in Integrative Counselling. I currently work part time as a counsellor at a local hospice my work here as a bereavement counsellor supports patients, carers and their families before and after a bereavement. Bereavement counselling usually starts with the grief process but how you grieve is dictated by many events from your past., thus talking about not only your bereavement but at times it is useful to explore other life events which then enables you to understand your current feelings, and coping mechanisms.
My other part time role is as a registered adult nurse working in a local hospital. I feel my work as a nurse scaffolds my deep understanding of illness and how this can impact on your life.
