About me and my therapy practice

A registered counsellor/psychotherapist, I offer person-centred counselling in a safe and non-judgemental space where you can explore and express your feelings and thoughts without fear as you make your way towards healing.

Practice description

Are you?

  • Struggling in relationships with loved ones?
  • Finding it difficult to get over a loss, such as a bereavement?
  • Swamped by the never-ending demands placed on you to “fit in”?
  • Anxious about your future?
  • Alone and finding it hard to reach out?
  • Wanting to make the best of your life, but don’t know how?

When life’s challenges threaten to overwhelm us, it can feel as if we are being forced to stand up straight in a tiny rowboat in the middle of a vast stormy ocean. How do we find a way to not capsize?

Talking to family and friends can help. They will want us to be happy, of course, but how will they judge what we tell them? And do we want to be seen as a burden?

My approach

It can feel daunting to approach a stranger to discuss personal matters. I believe that one of the most important elements in a successful therapy is a trusting relationship between therapist and client so it is important to find someone with whom you feel comfortable.

My approach starts from the position of trusting in your innate desire for growth and fulfilment - in other words, to make the best of life. It is then my task to create a safe space for this growth by bringing acceptance, honesty, genuineness and empathy to the therapeutic relationship. There is no diagnosing, no pigeon-holing, no judgement. Instead, the relationship is a safe and confidential space in which you feel accepted and understood, where you can be in touch with your feelings and talk without fear about anything that concerns you.

My practice is based in a comfortable room located between Market Drayton and Newcastle-under-Lyme. I also offer online and phone sessions.

I provide long and short term therapy and have experience working in a variety of settings and with a wide range of people with diverse problems including anxiety, loss, repeating patterns of behaviour and relationship problems (home, work, family).

My first session

I offer a free, no obligation 30-minute session so we can learn about each other and how we might be able to work together.

If we decide that for whatever reason it would not be helpful to continue, I will do my best to advise you on other options that might be suited to your needs.
