About me and my therapy practice
My aim as your counsellor is to make you feel at ease and comfortable in your sessions, ensuring that you have the space to speak freely and without judgement about whatever is going on for you. As an integrative counsellor, I draw upon many strands of psychotherapy, meaning that I can tailor our work to best suit you and your needs. I think of myself as a relational counsellor, placing the most importance on our therapeutic relationship and how we work together. Sometimes life can feel confusing, daunting and overwhelming, and my aim as your counsellor is to offer you the space to slow down, breathe, and support you to make sense of your world and your experiences. I take a holistic approach to my practice, meaning that I want to learn about you as a whole person, and not just focus on the issues that have brought you to therapy. My hope is to create a safe space for you to discover more about yourself and what has lead you to seek therapy, and support you to go forward in life with a more congruent sense of yourself and deeper understanding of your way of being. I look forward to meeting you in the therapy room soon!
Practice description
I work with clients on a weekly basis, meeting at the same time each week. I offer both zoom sessions and face-to-face sessions, and I do offer concessionary rates to students, retirees or those on low income.
My first session
Prior to our first session I will offer you an introductory 15 minute phone call or zoom session to enable you to get to know me and my style of working. I will always recommend you take a couple of days to digest this phone call and decide if I am the right therapist for you. If we decide that we would like to work together, we will then schedule our first session, which will likely become our regular weekly session time.
During our first official session together I will encourage you to explore what has brought you therapy in more detail and what you hope to achieve in our sessions. I will usually ask you some questions about yourself, your history and your relationships to get a clearer view of you as a whole person. I will also encourage you to ask me any questions you may have about the therapeutic process to foster an honest and open atmosphere as we begin our therapeutic relationship.
