About me and my therapy practice
I work from an integrative therapeutic perspective, drawing upon my experience in person-centered therapy to establish a compassionate and effective practice. My approach blends techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Psychodynamic therapy, allowing me to tailor sessions to each individual’s unique needs and goals. I genuinely view my role as a privilege, accompanying clients as they navigate and work through personal issues in their lives.
I believe that the answers to life’s challenges often lie within each person, and my primary aim is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can discover these insights for themselves. My role is to walk alongside clients as a supportive guide, encouraging growth and self-understanding in a way that is both empowering and respectful of each person’s unique journey. With over 1,000 hours of experience working with clients, I am committed to fostering an environment where clients feel fully accepted and comfortable to express themselves authentically. If I ever feel that a client could benefit more from a different therapeutic approach, I am dedicated to supporting them in finding the right therapist to meet their needs.
Practice description
My practice is built on creating an open and supportive environment where clients feel safe to explore and grow. I work with adults and young adults, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, family and relationship difficulties, confidence issues, and addiction. Each session lasts 50 minutes, and I offer both flexible, client-led sessions and structured guidance depending on individual needs. Some clients prefer short-term work focused on a specific issue, while others engage in longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns and personal growth. We can meet once or twice weekly, and I offer both in-person and online sessions to accommodate diverse needs and preferences.
My approach allows for flexibility and responsiveness to each client’s journey. I often provide reflections and suggest tasks for clients to explore outside our sessions, supporting the integration of insights into everyday life. As a therapist, I am committed to ethical practice, guided by the standards of the BACP to ensure confidentiality, respect, and a secure therapeutic relationship. Ultimately, clients can expect a collaborative space where they are encouraged to explore their thoughts and emotions in a way that feels right for them, with my support in navigating each step forward.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and establish a foundation of trust. My primary goal is to create a comfortable and welcoming environment where clients feel free to express themselves openly. We’ll begin with an initial assessment to explore what the client hopes to gain from therapy and to clarify their goals. This session is also a time for clients to ask questions, and I encourage them to share any thoughts or concerns they may have without fear of judgment.
In our first meeting, I focus on creating an atmosphere that allows the client to determine if they feel comfortable working with me. I understand that the therapeutic relationship is crucial to effective therapy, and I want each client to feel that they have made an informed choice in selecting a therapist. By the end of the session, the client will have a clear sense of my approach, the structure of our work together, and how we might collaboratively work toward their goals.
With a commitment to fostering genuine self-expression and over 1,000 hours of experience supporting clients in a non-judgmental manner, I strive to provide the initial reassurance and openness needed for each client to feel safe and understood from the very start of our work together.
