About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Person-Centred Psychotherapist practicing in rural South Warwickshire. This means that the nature of how I practice is non-directive. I believe that most of us has repressed some trauma from our earlier years that at certain times of strain in later life will seek to come to the surface, causing clients anxiety and/or depression. It can be hard to talk about issues that we have spent so long trying to hide from others and ourselves. Being honest and finding the language to communicate our deepest feelings can be challenging. I hope that I can offer an empathic and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship to help process difficult emotions in order to move towards the light.
I am particularly interested in helping women in mid-life as this demographic seems to be struggling more than ever to find balance and meet the needs of dependent children, parents and society at large, at a time when hormonal upheaval is creating its own demands on a woman's body. I have worked for sometime with the Family Intervention Counselling Service, counselling survivors of domestic abuse, and with the charity Age UK where I have learned much of the plight of older clients in today's society.
Practice description
I practice from my sitting room at home which is comfortable and there will never be anyone else in the building when I am seeing clients. I also offer a walk-and-talk service from my home. This can help clients who struggle with eye-contact or just for anyone who appreciates the freeing power of movement and nature. It is usually easy to park near my cottage. Please do not come earlier than your allotted time as I may be with another client. It is possible to exit from the back of the house if discretion is of utmost concern.
My first session
Prior to our first session, it is a good idea if we can have a chat on the phone. This will give you some idea of whether or not I am the right therapist for you. If you agree to proceed I will send you my contract and confidentiality agreement to sign. In addition, the is an assessment form to be filled out. You may fill in as much or as little of this information as you see fit. As psychotherapy is a big investment, I like to launch straight into our first session once contracts and payment is in place. Sessions will run for 50 minutes.
