About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified Person Centered counsellor. I am friendly, approachable and empathic. My main aim is to build a therapeutic relationship with my clients through trust and rapport. This helps you find better ways to relate to yourself, process difficulties you may be facing or to bring about changes you may desire. Person Centered therapy is often highly effective for a client who wants to discuss, explore and understand. It can offer a safe, non - judgmental space to help find your own solutions. Clients often discover the great value of feeling heard and validated.

I am an Assistant Coordinator and counsellor for a local  listening/counselling agency.

My background qualifications and career have been in Health and Social care, working with Adults with Learning Disabilities whereby I have a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care - Adult Management

I have experience working in the charity sector  supporting carers whose loved ones have a severe mental illness.

I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy)

Practice description

I offer adult individual counselling sessions in a practice room in Melton Mowbray   or remotely using zoom. The sessions last for 50 minutes.

We all have our own unique story and experiences. Even though common themes come up in the therapy sessions that may have affected many of us at some point in our lives, such as anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, loneliness, relationship difficulties, divorce, work difficulties, low self esteem, confidence, loss of identity, life transitions, each person experiences them in their unique way.

Alongside having experience with working with the above themes, I also have experience working with faith and spirituality and childhood sexual abuse.

Clients have fed back that they find me very easy to talk to and they left feeling listened to and heard. They have reported feeling 'lighter', more 'hopeful' and have experienced positive changes in their lives.

My first session

I offer a free initial  20 minutes no obligation call, to share a little about your needs at this time, ask any questions you may have, and decide on your next steps.

Our first session will give us an opportunity to get to know each other a little, find out more about your needs, what has brought you to therapy and what it is you would like us to initially look at together.  I use a short written assessment at our first meeting, taking a brief history and exploring your therapeutic needs.

We would also talk over our working agreement, looking at things like confidentiality, ideas and expectations of therapy and practical considerations like how often we plan to meet and when, for example.
