About me and my therapy practice
An experienced psychotherapist with over 12 years post qualifying experience of working with children, adolescents, their parents, families and adults.
I have experience of working within educational and community settings with clients experiencing mental health, emotional or wellbeing issues.
I offer both short and long term interventions, working alongside my clients to ensure they access support that is appropriate for their needs.
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist with Transactional Analysis at the core of my work, although I draw on a wide range of learning and theoretical models to support you through your therapeutic journey.
The work will be at your pace and I aim to create a safe, confidential and containing space for clients to explore issues in your own way.
Working with children and young people includes the use of play, creativity and movement to help process and make sense of experiences and emotions in a way which suits them developmentally. My work with parents has a focus of compassion and understanding for their experiences, especially to raising awareness to the difficulties their child may be facing.
Practice description
Sessions are 50 minutes long and can be booked weekly or fortnightly.
I work within the setting of Inspiration Therapies, based at Teesside Park. There is ample parking outside of the building and easily accessible by public transport. It is within walking distance of shops and coffee shops for parents/carers to visit while their child/young person is having therapy. There is also a comfortable waiting area if this is preferred.
My first session
The decision to enter into therapy can be daunting. I offer a free 10-minute consultation phone call prior to the first session so I can gain a brief understanding of the reasons for you wanting support for yourself or your child/young person at this time and to arrange the first session
The first session is a time for us to develop a joint understanding of what the current issues are, what has brought us together, some of your history. We will also look at what you would like to achieve, what can be expected during therapy and how we might work together. It is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and decide if you would like to continue working with me.
