Availability
Current availability for Fridays during the day 9 - 5pm.
I work UK wide, offering online or telephone sessions.
Sessions are usually held weekly, typically at the same time and day, but I am happy to be flexible around frequency and times.
Each session lasts 50 minutes, and the therapy runs according to the individual needs of each client - some are very brief - having only one or two sessions, some have medium-term therapy - 6-10 weeks, or some clients work over the longer term.
I can usually arrange an initial appointment within a few weeks.
About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Louise
I’m a person-centred therapist based in Cheshire.
I also work in the corporate world and understand the pressures and challenges of working in business.
• Prior to training as a therapist, I spent 10 years working in mental health in voluntary roles, working for various crisis and support charities nationally and locally to me in the North West. In 2018, I took the leap to begin training as a therapist and now have a portfolio career doing what I love – which is helping to bring about positive change and growth.
• As well as my private practice, I also work as a remote counsellor for Deafblind UK, supporting clients with dual sensory loss.
• Through my work at organisations including Manchester Rape Crisis, Trafford Carers, the NHS, and DeafBlind UK, I have gained varied experience working with people facing a wide range if difficulties including stress, burn-out, work-life balance, low self-confidence and self-esteem, bereavement and loss, anxiety and depression and relationship issues.
• Outside of my therapy work, I work in business development where my focus is on helping socially and environmentally motivated businesses grow. I typically work at senior level interfacing to the executive. I work in large corporate organisations.
Qualifications
• Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (University of Salford)
• I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework (for more details see - www.bacp.co.uk).
• Fully insured by the PPS (Psychologists Protection Society) www.ppstrust.org
Practice description
Feeling snowed under or just want to improve yourself?
Welcome to the Corporate Haven - talking therapy for people in demanding business roles.
The Corporate Haven is a place to park, and unpack your stuff
You need a confidential space, with a professional listener, who will do the work to truly understand, and give you the time and space to work things through.
This is for you if …
In life:
• Work demands are making you feel generally anxious, stressed or depressed.
• You want to improve your confidence and self-esteem, especially after career setbacks or transitions.
• You want support to navigate life challenges such as a specific event, loss or major decision.
• You want to set healthier boundaries between work and personal life.
• You want to gain clarity on future goals and the next phase of life/career.
• You want to improve your communication and relationships with others.
In your work or career:
• You want to increase self-awareness, develop empathic leadership skills and increase emotional intelligence.
• You want to stay resilient to or reduce stress and burnout.
• You want to overcome imposter syndrome or self-doubt over your professional abilities.
• You want to develop better coping mechanisms for workplace challenges.
My first session
The first session is a reduced up front fee session (£40) as this is an opportunity for us to properly meet, explore what has brought you to therapy, for me to explain the therapy, so you understand what is involved, and decide if we are a good fit.
My goal will be to create a warm, welcoming environment, designed to help you feel at ease and address any initial concerns or issues. You will have the opportunity to explore what has brought you to therapy – this is just to get an idea rather than going into the details.
We will go through the paperwork to ensure we are both comfortable that we will be able to work well together. I will explain confidentiality, which forms a key part of therapy.
We may agree that another type of support may be better for you, I will help you to find options for this. You may also decide you want to think about it – which is completely up to you.
