About me and my therapy practice
I approach therapy with honesty, loyalty and an open mind, tailoring my work to suit your unique needs. As an integrative counsellor, I draw from various therapeutic approaches, with a strong foundation in person-centred therapy. My approach is flexible, often incorporating more directive methods like Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) when necessary.
Having experienced my own challenging times, I understand the value of support and aim to create a safe, understanding space where you can explore your feelings and find practical solutions to your challenges. My goal is to support you on your journey to healing and growth.
I believe that everyone has innate strengths and the ability to overcome even the most challenging situations. Together, we will identify and build on these strengths, helping you gain confidence and resilience. My approach is rooted in a calm and supportive environment, where your personal growth is the primary focus.
I work with adults, children, young people, and couples, specializing in supporting those who have experienced trauma, including survivors of rape and sexual assault, as well as those dealing with loss, anxiety, and depression. My work is informed by personal experience and a deep empathy for those going through difficult times. In addition to serious discussions, I believe in the power of small moments of connection, which can make the therapeutic process more comfortable and even uplifting.
Practice description
I have a room within Aspire Health in Rugby which offers a quiet and calm environment.
Free parking can be found at the car park next door - you just need to let me know your car registration.
I offer a free online 15 minute consultation so we can get to know each other and you can decide whether you would like to work with me. I will then send you the contract and client information sheet before the first session. These can be completed and returned online or we can complete them during the first session.
Everything is done at your pace. I am not going to push you to discuss things you are not ready to discuss - I follow your lead but encourage you to face your fears and discuss your issues, with me, within a safe space.
My first session
There is an assessment that I will run through on the first session which will outline your reasons for attending counselling and what you hope you achieve.
I will take a brief, personal, history so I can start to understand you situation. I will ask about any medical conditions and medication which may be relevant to your situation but I will not make any judgement about this.
