About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Jo and I provide therapy to adults (aged 18 and over) face-to-face, online or over the telephone.
Taking the first step toward seeking therapy can be daunting, but it's also a courageous act of self-care. If you're struggling or simply seeking support, I invite you to reach out and schedule a confidential therapy session. Together, we can work towards facilitating positive change in your life.
As a dedicated and compassionate Counsellor, I am committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. With extensive experience working with trauma, abuse, ADHD, anxiety, depression, self esteem, self confidence and relationship issues, I have worked with diverse populations facing a wide range of challenges. My therapeutic approach is humanistic, drawing from various evidence-based techniques including person-centred therapy, trauma informed practice and use of the expressive arts.
I believe in the importance of establishing a strong therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and collaboration. Every individual is unique, and I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the specific needs and goals of each client. Through a blend of non-directive listening, insight-oriented exploration, and practical strategies, I help clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and make meaningful changes in their lives.
I work in a pluralistic way, meaning that I will discuss with you what is helpful and tailor my approach to suit your individual therapeutic needs.
Practice description
I work in person from a summerhouse in my garden, online or over the telephone. Sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly for 50 minutes. I am offer both long term or short term therapy.
My first session
If you are interested in meeting, please email/telephone me in the first instance stating if you would like a telephone call to discuss your needs. If a session is booked, I will email you copies of the relevant paperwork for you to read and/or complete prior to the first session. Payment is requested in advance at least 24 hours prior to secure the session.
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and see if I am potentially the right therapist for you. I will invite you discuss what has brought you to therapy now and understand what you are hoping to achieve from our work together.
