About me and my therapy practice
As a Qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) I can help with a variety of issues. I offer flexible session times to work around your timeframe. Therapy is tailored to each individual, I provide a free 30 minute call as an opportunity for you to see if I'm the right therapist for you and also to discuss what you would like help with, and how you would like to move forward.
Practice description
My Main therapy approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The idea of CBT Therapy is that our thoughts and feelings are key to how we cope in situations, or painful life circumstances.
With the support from me, and the time to work at your own pace, I can help you work through and explore your issues and develop new coping strategies to help you with your situation.
Therapy can help with:
-Helping you to reduce your anxiety, stress levels and reduce overthinking.
-introduce effective ways to treat OCD by looking at intrusive thoughts, images and urges which might be affecting your life.
-Address unhealthy expectations of yourself that are causing you stress in your life.
-To explore painful emotions and make sense of thoughts, and normalise or change difficult emotions/feelings.
-Learn to tackle feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, inferiority, and self defeating beliefs about yourself,
-Learn to challenge self criticism and adopt more self compassion, love and acceptance for yourself.
-Address unhealthy relationships.
-Create goals to work towards, to help you make positive changes in your life.
As well as my private practice, I have worked in various Counselling organisations such as the NHS, Domestic abuse agencies, and other charity organisations helping young adults, to adults to older adults with a variety of issues such as:
Anxiety
Worry
Stress
work related stress
Fatigue and sleep issues
Phobias
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Anger
Depression
Low Self Esteem
Self Harm
Suicidal Thoughts
Domestic Abuse
Relationship Issues
Bereavement/ Loss
Gender Identity
As a current registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) I maintain my practice by working within the standards set within their code of ethics which includes supervision on a regular basis.
I hold a Current DBS check
My first session
The first initial appointment is a free video, or phone call so we can have a chat about your current situation, your background, what you want help with, or what changes you would like to see in your life. This information will help me to understand you and your circumstances and will also give you the opportunity to see if I'm the right therapist for you. If you feel that I'm not the right therapist, then that's also fine, there is no obligation to begin therapy.
If you decide to go ahead with therapy, we can arrange a time slot for your first session. At the start of session one, the initial assessment, I will discuss contracting with you. This part of the process outlines confidentiality, the limits of confidentiality, and my membership with the British Association for Counselling Psychotherapists (BACP).
Any questions please feel free to message or email.
