About me and my therapy practice
My approach ensures the work is all about you, without judgment or opinion. I will walk the path with you, as a person centred counsellor, with empathy, care and reflection to help you process issues and help you understand and validate your lived experience. Our work together will focus largely on self- acceptance, navigation of trauma, to allow healing and self-growth. I am a level 5 qualified counsellor, with a warm, engaging down to earth approach shaped by years of working with people and from my own lived experiences.
Practice description
I am a member of the BACP and work using their ethical framework.
My experience is based around bereavement, suicide, anxiety, loss, grief and health related trauma - especially cancer. I have worked with people coping with the diagnosis of cancer, living with cancer and working with family members who navigate the path of their loved one with cancer.
I also work with people who find themselves in a tough place and need someone to help them navigate through difficult times. I also work for the charity Mind in Gateshead.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation to help you decide if you would like to book a session with me.
The first session is an assessment that helps to give me a clear understanding of what brings you to counselling and decide how I may help. By investing in yourself, it is an empowering and valuable journey that can enhance your life.
If I am the right therapist for you, I will book you in for a 45 minute session to work through paperwork, including a contract that I send to you via email. A counselling contract will give you clear guidelines and secures the work during sessions. All information is held confidentially and in accordance with GDPR.
I look forward to hearing from you.
