About me and my therapy practice
I am UK credentialed, with 4 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients while supporting them in navigating romantic / family relationships / past trauma, working lives and academia . I have worked with clients with ADHD, Autism and Dyslexia issues. Relationship issues, LGBTQ+ related issues, family conflicts, trauma, abuse, eating disorders as well as body dysmorphia, gender transitioning, and coping with grief and loss. I believe in creating a safe accepting space, free of judgement while treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I am a therapist who is sensitive yet will guide you towards a solution to that which is worrying at the moment. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!Practice description
We will meet once weekly at an agreed time and day for a 50-minute session. I recommend a minimum of 10 sessions to allow our work to evolve. After that, it is easier for you to make an informed decision about whether or not you wish to continue your counselling. If you continue beyond the first six sessions, the period over which we work becomes open-ended until we end by agreement. If you are late for a session and I am still waiting to hear from you, I will be there for you for the duration of the session. I will only work up to the end of the agreed session, which will end on time. Please let me know as much notice as possible if you will be late or unable to attend a session.
Clients must be able to participate freely as they work with practitioners of the counselling professions towards their desired goals. This requires clients to trust their practitioner with their well-being and sensitive personal information. Therefore, as members or registrants of BACP, we consider being trustworthy a serious ethical commitment.
When you start counselling, a regular weekly commitment is established between you (the client) and me (the counsellor). This means I cannot be available to anyone else if you miss a session without notice. In those circumstances, I would like you to pay the fee for your session. There are no exceptions to this. I would like you to give 48 hours' notice of non-attendance. In those circumstances, there will be no charge for the missed session.
In the normal course of events, you will know when you are ready to finish Counselling, and we will agree together on the work we need to do to prepare for this. You may sometimes find Counselling very difficult, become distressed and feel the need to end. I would invite you to talk to me about these difficulties rather than suddenly end, as an opportunity to resolve important issues may be lost.
