About me and my therapy practice

How you would like to feel in life? Fulfilled, stable, confident?

What is holding you back? Anxiety, depression, self-esteem?

As a therapist who offers online and face-to-face individual counselling to adults, I am here to help you address some of the challenges you are facing and offer you time and a private space to help you work through them.

I work in an integrative way, which means I assess your unique personal situation before drawing on various types of therapy to explore your issues with you.

Perhaps you are struggling with mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression or body image. Maybe you are trying to navigate new life stages such as parenting, or an empty-nest or a new relationship.

Whatever the issue, together we can try to make sense of it and work to find strategies that enable you to live a calmer, more fulfilled life.

Prior to training and working as a counsellor, I have had 20 years' experience of working in education and publishing and of a variety of workplace cultures.

Though I counsel for many personal issues, I have developed a particular interest in workplace wellbeing, having encountered all the pressures that come with employment, from managing relationships with bosses and co-workers, to stress, burnout and redundancy.

If you would like to talk to someone about what is happening in your personal or work life, please get in touch.

Practice description

Coming to counselling is an opportunity for you to speak your truth with someone who is there to listen, non-judgmentally.

Building a relationship of trust is vital in order for you to do that, which is why the confidentiality of the space is so important.

My integrative approach draws on a number of different types of therapy but is always led by you, the client, at your pace.

Ultimately, counselling may evolve in a number of directions, and there are a number of ways in which I may approach your issue, depending on what you come to me with.

My first session

A first session would typically be an assessment session where I would be finding out about you and your reasons for seeking counselling.

From then on in, sessions may take on a number of formats, from exploring recent events to delving in to childhood experiences or anything that may be having an impact on your mental health.

Finding the right counsellor for you is important: you may spend a number of hours divulging your thoughts and details of your life to them.

For that reason, I offer a free, 20 minute, no obligation chat to prospective clients, so that we can both find out a little more about each other before committing to any sessions.

Sessions last 50 minutes and can be open-ended; however you would normally require 6 sessions at the minimum.
